Perkins Had Been In City 39 Years; Had Wide Circle of Acquaintances Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon for Adelbert D. Perkins, 71, who died Tuesday at his home, 217 Pleasant street, after an illness of less than a month. Mr. Perkins had been a resident of this city for 39 years, having come here from St. Johns in 1888, after his marriage to Addie M. Bessley, who survives him. From the time of his early boyhood Mr. Perkins had depended largely upon his own resources. At eleven years of age he was thrown upon his own by the Civil war conditions and from that time on had made his own way, aided in his later years by his wife, who labored at his side. He was well known and widely liked in Ionia and had a wide circle of friends and acquaintances. He was a member of the B.P.O.E. here and was popular with the other members of the lodge.
