A retired C & O Railway Depot Agent, he had spent his winters in Florida since retiring 21 years ago. A native of South Bryon, New York, he came with his parents Warren and Amelia Perkins to Salem, and came to Lake Odessa in 1913 as depot agent and telegraph operator for the Pere Marquette Railway, now the C & O, by whom he was employed for 51 years. Mr. Perkins was a member of the local F&AM Lodge, past patron of OES, member of the Dewitt Clinton consistory of Grand Rapids and Brotherhood of Railway Trainmen. He attended the Methodist Church Surviving are two daughters, mrs.Alton (Marion) Klahn of Lake Odessa and Mrs.Frank (Enid) Morse of Ionia; two sons Russell of Cedar Springs and Warren of Plymouth; 9 grand children and 7 great-grandchildren. His wife, the former Addie Atchinson passed away May 1st, 1944. Mr.Perkins arrived here Monday forenoon at the Pickens Funeral Chapel where funeral services were held Tuesday at 11 a.m. under the auspices of the F&AM Lodge. Graveside services were held at the Walker Cemetery at 2:30 p.m. at Salem, Michigan.
