          OBITUARY

   Josiah E. Perkins, son of Josiah and Emma Perkins, was born in Sunfield, Eaton
county, Michigan, January 
29, 1872 and died at the home of his mother in Lansing, October 3, 1917, at the age
of 45 years, 8 months 
and 4 days.

   His early life was spent with his parents at Sunfield until his marriage to Mina
F. Thorpe, April 15, 1899. They 
resided at Sunfield until moving to this vicinity in 1811.

   He has been an untold sufferer for more than four years but his death came as a
shock to his many friends.  
He leaves to mourn their loss a wife, one daughter Pauline, one son Merlin, both of
whom are at home to bring 
comfort to their mother in her sad need; also a mother, one sister, Mrs. William
Shellhorn of Woodbury, five 
brothers, Stephen of Willis, Texas, Noris A. of Sunfield, Charles A. of Hastings,
William H. of Springport, and 
Rome R. of Lansing.  He was a member in good standing of the Sunfield I. O. O. F.
lodge.

   The funeral was held Saturday, at 2:00 o'clock at the house. The sermon was by
Rev. L. L. Steadman of the 
Congregational church and the singing by a quartette composed of Mrs. O C. Russ,
Mrs. A. J. Dann, and 
Messrs. George Kart and Leon Gilson, Mrs. Gilson accompanying them. Interment was
made in Lakeside 
cemetery.

flowers, the kind words of the pastor, the singers and the I. O. O. F lodge in our
sad bereavement.
