The Ionia Sentinel-Standard, Tuesday, November 2, 1954
Mrs. Nettie E. Perrien, 73, died Monday evening at her home at 168 Fargo 
street.

She was born May 9, 1881 in Bushnell township, Montcalm county, the daughter 
of Charles and Amanda Greenhoe Knapp.  She was married to Wallace A. Perrien 
August 25, 1898, in Grand Rapids.  Mrs. Perrien had lived in Ionia for 46 
years coming here from Bushnell.  She assisted her husband in the operation of 
a confectionery store on West Main street around 1914 and later in a tavern on 
M-21 about 1934.

Surviving are her husband, Wallace A.; two daughters, Mrs. Bert Bailey of 
Bushnell and Mrs. Milton Stilwell of Ionia; two sons, Charles and Wallace Jr., 
both of Ionia; nine grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. 
Bessie Newcomb of Ionia and Mrs. Maude Worthy of Sheridan; two brothers, 
LaVern Knapp of San Jose, Calif., and Fred Knapp of Greenville.

Funeral services  will be held Thursday afternoon at 2 o’clock at Myers 
funeral home with the Rev. Hubert Ellis officiating.  Burial will be at Palo 
cemetery.

Funeral services for Mrs. Mattie Perrien, who died at her home at 168 Fargo 
street Monday evening, will be held Thursday afternoon at 3 o’clock at Myers 
funeral home with the Rev. Hubert Ellis officiating.  Interment will be at 
Palo cemetery.
