From the Ionia Standard.

A strange case of suicide occurred in Portland Sunday night.  Mrs. Perrigo, the
aged mother of Isaac S. Perrigo, a well known citizen, was found in her bedroom
Monday morning dead, her body being suspended from the door knob to which she
had fastened a short piece of rope, which also encircled her neck.  She was
subject to severe nervous spells, and it is thought that she must have been
crazy at the time of committing the fearful deed.
