Perrone, Jr., 94, of Portland, passed away March 2, 2004 in Lansing. He was born June 3, 1909 in Johnsonburg, Pennsylvania the son of Domenico and Coneetta Perrone. Nick was a well known businessman in Ionia where he owned and operated a store and soda fountain. He retired from the Lyons Chrysler Plant in 1975. Nick served on the Ionia Public Board of Education for sixteen years and was an active member of the Ionia Elks, Rotary and Travelers Protective Association. He is survived by sons, D. Joseph and Susan Perrone of Okemos, William C. and Mary Perrone of Santa Clara, California, Michael J. Perrone of Sacramento, California; daughter-in-law, Rosemary Perrone of Ionia; five grandchildren; eight great- grandchildren; and extended family Leona Beard of Portland, Gary and Joan Beard, Curtis and Mary Jo Daggett, Gary and Janet Tellier and their families. One son, Robert F. Perrone, preceded him in death. There will be a private memorial for family and close friends on Saturday, from 12 to 1 p.m. at the Schrauben-Lehman Funeral Home, Cook Chapel in Ionia. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Travelers Protective Association.
