Glenn E. Perry, 83, of Portland died June 15, 2000. He was born in North Owego, N.Y., Sept. 29, 1916, the son of Burton and Emma (Sharpe) Perry. He attended Moody Bible Institute in Chicago, graduating in 1945. He was a Home Missionary with R.B.M. Ministries from 1952-1985 and ministered in nursing homes, rescue missions, and prisons. He served as associate pastor of the First Baptist Church in Portland. He was known as Uncle Glenn the Children’s friend. Surviving are his wife of 54 years, Mary Louise; children, Paul (Linda) and Glenda Perry, both of Lansing, Stephen (Gina) of Lubbock, Texas, Timothy (Shelley) of Portland, Darlene (David) Jenista of Belmont, and Judy (Dan) Bowers of Portland; 16 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Kemp and Leslie Perry; and stepsister, Ruth Perry. Celebration of his life with Christ was conducted by the Rev. Jim Howard June 17 at First Baptist Church in Portland. Graveside services followed at Portland Cemetery. Contributions may be made to R.B.M. Ministries or to the First Baptist Church of Portland.
