Born July 9, 1927 she was the daughter of Bert and Edna Ruppert Richardson. She graduated from LeRoy High School, attended Butterworth School of Nursing, and received her Registered Nurse’s degree from Wayne State University. She worked at Reed City Hospital where she met Allen J. Perry. They were married Dec. 23, 1950, and moved to West Branch. In 1953 they moved to Ionia to work Ionia County Hospital and participate in the building of Ionia County Memorial Hospital. He died Dec. 4, 1975. She also practiced nursing in various other hospital, including Carson City Hospital, and worked for the Michigan Department of Corrections Medical Facilities in Ionia until her retirement Dec. 24, 1987. She had worked with United Nursing and as a local volunteer for several years. Surviving are three sons, Michael A. Perry of Jackson, Patrick E. Perry of Jacksonville, Fla., and Timothy J. Perry of Ionia; five grandchildren; one brother, Ernest Richardson of Morley, two sisters, Ruth Hammer of LeRoy and Margarite Davidson of Ypsilanti, and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Monday from Cook Funeral Home, Ionia, with the Rev. Keith Bovee officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens. A memorial has been established for Ionia Area Hospice, in care of the funeral home.
