Rosemary A. Pertz, 55, of Spring Lake, formerly Mt. Pleasant, succumbed to her 
long battle with metastatic breast cancer. At the time of her death on 
Thursday, January 5, 2006, she was surrounded by her family and good friends 
Sr. Diane and Sr. Linda of Emmaus Monastery, Vestaburg.

Rosemary moved to Spring Lake with her husband Jerry just three years ago from 
Mount Pleasant. They had been member of Sacred Heart while residing in Mount 
Pleasant. They had also lived in Edmore and were active in St. Margaret Mary 
Catholic Church, as well as Ionia and Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church. At 
these various churches she served as parish secretary, choir member, 
Eucharistic minister, religious education teacher and Cub Scout Den Mother. 
She was preceded in death by her parents Ignatius and Rose Marckese and her 
sister Debbie Bailey. She is survived by her husband Jerry and son Scott and 
daughter-in-law Leslie of Lansing; sisters Kathy (John) Ponterelli of 
Englewood, Cal., Denise Lucas of Chardon, Ohio, and brothers Ken (Deborah) 
Marckese and Joe Marckese.

A funeral liturgy will be celebrated at 1:00 p.m. Monday at St. Mary's 
Catholic Church in Spring Lake, MI with Rev. Leonard Sudlik as celebrant. 
Friends may meet the family 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., with a Rosary at 9 p.m., 
Sunday at VanZantwick Bartels Kammeraad Funeral Home in Spring Lake; and on 
Monday at church one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Spring 
Lake Cemetery. Memorials to the American Cancer Society are appreciated.
