Pete was born on Oct. 26, 1918 in Gowen, the third child of Andrew and Harriet Haman Peterman. Pete served his country in the United States Army during World War II. He was a member of the American Legion Post 203 of Belding and the AmVets. After the war Pete built a gas station, garage and body shop called Peterman’s Sales and Service on M-44 near Orleans. Pete was a gifted mechanic and a very talented person. He had also worked at several automobile garages in the area, including the Packard dealer in Greenville. He was married on Dec. 20, 1941 in Dickerson, Texas to Hazel Belle McClow and she preceded him in 1979. Pete was also preceded by his parents, stepmother Edna, his sister Gertrude, his brother Clair, sister-in-law Minnie Peterman and brother-in-laws Peter Kammers, Edwin Sovereign Jr. and H. Paul Nichols. Pete is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Janice and David Kelly of Gifford, Idaho; granddaughter Eve (Tommy) Hullette of Indiana; grandson John Kelly serving his country with the US Navy at San Diego and his great- grandchildren, Ruth, Tobias and Okley. Pete is also survived by his sister Crystal Sovereign, his niece Wanda (Gary) Lippert of Gown, nephew Allen (Sue) Kammers of Gaylord, nine great-nephews, three great-nieces and several great- great-nephews and nieces. Funeral services will be 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Johnson-Feuerstein Funeral Home, Belding with his daughter: Pastor Janice Kelly officiating. Interment will follow in Palo Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour before the service. Memorial contributions may be given to the American Legion Post 203 of Belding.
