LAKE ODESSA – Cornelius H. Peters, 76, a resident of Lake Odessa and Dearborn 
Heights, died at Oakwood hospital in Dearborn, Tuesday afternoon.

He was born in Amsterdam, Netherlands, May 29, 1892, the son of Frederik and 
Heintje Germain Peiters and came to the United States in 1917.

He was married to Laura L. Buskirk of Kalamazoo, October 29, 1921. A baker at 
Michigan State University for a number of years he also pursued his profession 
at Grand Ledge before coming to Lake Odessa where he was employed at Lake 
Odessa Canning Company before his retirement 11 years ago.

Since then he and Mrs. Peters have spent their winters with their daughter, 
Norma J. Peters of Dearborn Heights. He was a member of Lakewood United 
Methodist church. 

Surviving are his wife, Laura L.; two sons, Stanley E. of Lansing, Herbert A. 
of Ferndale and Lake Odessa and the daughter, Norma of Dearborn Heights; nine 
grandchildren.

There are also five brothers, Frederik, Gerrit, Herman, Arnold, Abram and a 
sister Heintje, all of the Netherlands.

Funeral services will be Friday at 1:30 pm at Pickens funeral chapel in Lake 
Odessa with Rev Wilbur Williams officiating. Interment will be at Lakeside 
cemetery.
