He was well known to many city and county employees during the time his son-in-law was custodian at the courthouse. He was born in Denmark, July 18, 1858. He moved to Dwight, Ill, at the age of 25 and moved to Ionia January 11, 1907. He had made his home with the Dahls since 1927. Petersen’s wife preceded him in death in Ionia October 16, 1929. He was a retired farmer. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Charley Dahl of Ionia and Mrs. T. L. Richards of Chicago, Ill.; two granddaughters; one great-granddaughter; one step-son, Sigvert Nelson of Angola, Iowa; one step-daughter, Mrs. Frank Zellar of Campus, Ill.; three brothers in Denmark. Funeral services will be held at the Evangelical U.B. church, where he was a member, at 2 p.m. Saturday. The Rev. A. R. Kuehn will officiate. Interment will be in Highland Park cemetery. The body will repose at the family home until an hour before the services.
