Petersen, 91, of 222 North Dexter, died at the Ionia Manor Saturday noon after being a patient the past two years. He was born in Denmark, December 6, 1881 the son of Thomas and Mary Lund Petersen. He attended schools in Denmark and came to the United States at age 20. He lived in Cincinnati, Ohio before moving to Michigan. He was married to Amanda Nielsen in Ohio and came to Ionia where they made their home. She passed away in 1936. He married Maud Capron in 1944 and she survives. He had been a self- employed brick mason all of his working life. Surviving are his wife, Maud, three sons, Thomas of Ludington, Karl and Frederick of Ionia; two daughters, Mrs. Brethat Neilson of Perris, Calif., and Mrs. Garrit Nyland of Huntsville; also nine grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Funeral services were Monday at 1 o’clock form Leddick funeral home with the Rev. A. R. Gallert of St. Johns Lutheran church officiating. Interment was at Oak Hill cemetery in Ionia. Bearers were Thomas Petersen, William Nyland, Ronald Rubach and Robert White, all grandsons.
