Peterson. Part of the way they found four inches of snow on the ground. Mrs. Peterson’s death was very sudden. While caring for her child she complained of feeling badly, and requested her husband to take the child. Starting across the room she had gone only a few steps when she fell dead with the child in her arms; but fortunately the child was not seriously injured. The funeral was held at Clare Thursday. May Belle Ross was born March 31, 1888, in North Plains township, five and one half miles north of Muir. Her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Peter P. Ross, founded their home there in 1858, which was May Belle’s constant place of abode until, on Jan. 24, 1915, her marriage to Edgar S. Peterson took her to a home in Clare. To this union was born, Aug. 27, 1917, a daughter, Lucile Evelyn. Mrs. Peterson was always of a cheerful and sunny disposition, patience and fortitude under difficulties being one of her strong characteristics. She had a wide circle of friends in both of the communities where she lived. At the age of twelve years she became a member of the Church of Christ at North Plains, and on her removal to Clare she transferred her membership to the Congregational church there, in which she formed many intimate associations and friendships. Her whole life was characterized by willing service for Christ, and all who knew her loved her. She was a faithful and devoted wife and a patient and capable mother. She leaves to mourn her loss, besides her husband and little daughter, One sister, Mrs. Ella Buck, of Hale, Mich., and two brothers, Frank Ross of Lansing and Bernard Ross of Lyons; also many other relatives and friends.
