March 27, 2010 Myrle Rose Peterson, 102, of Grand Rapids, passed away March 24, 2010, at the Clark Retirement Community in Grand Rapids. She was born Nov. 15, 1907, on a farm near Smyrna, the daughter of George and Mary (Maude) Mason. She graduated from Belding High School and attended Davenport Institute, majoring in Business. She married G. Edward Peterson on March 21, 1932. Myrle was an active participant on the farm they owned in Orleans Township, working side by side with Ed in developing one of the premier Registered Holstein herds of its time. She did all the bookkeeping for the farm, helped with farm work, as required, and was also a wonderful homemaker. Myrle was preceded in death by her husband and three brothers, Kayren, Kenneth and Martin. She is survived by her four children, Lois Ellis of Kalamazoo, James (Kathy) Peterson of Florida, Jerry (Karen) Peterson, Florida, and Karen (Bob) Coulson of Ionia; 10 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, and two great- great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Monday, April 5 at Zion United Methodist church in Ionia, with Pastor Cliff Allen officiating. Funeral arrangements by Lake Funeral Home in Ionia.
