Peterson, 60, of Palo, died Friday afternoon at 3:15 enroute to the Ionia hospital. He had been in ill health for the past two years. A son of the late George and Sophia Peterson, he was born March 4, 1897 in Dwight, Ill. and came at an early age, with his parents, to Ionia where he resided until 1932. He later moved to a farm north of Palo and moved to Palo two years ago. Mr. Peterson was a member of the Palo Methodist church, was a veteran of World War I and was a member of the D.A.V. chapter in Belding. He was married to the former Beulah Hecht of Ionia, March 4, 1924. Surviving are his wife, Beulah, a son, Robert of Palo; three daughters, Mrs. Doris Ryan and Mrs. Glennis Ryan both of Carson City, and Mrs. Alice Ryder of Lowell; six grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Sophia Swain of Ionia; three brothers, Elmer and Edwin of Ionia and Wesley of Orleans, and several nieces and nephews. The D.A.V. Flat River veterans had charge of the service at which the Rev. Harold Cox of Hubbardston, pastor of the Palo Methodist church, officiated. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at 2 o’clock at the Myers Funeral Home in Ionia and interment was at Highland Park cemetery.
