Peterson died early Wednesday morning at her home southwest of Smyrna at the age of 89 years. She was born February 4, 1858 at Candice, Ontario county, N.Y., and came to Smyrna at the age of six, with her parents, the late Mr. and Mrs. Decker Hoppough, and was the last survivor of 12 children. She was married to Orson Peterson October 29, 1885, and had lived on the same farm all of her married life, Mr. Peterson having passed on, December 4, 1913. She was an honorary member of the Smyrna Friendship club. She had been in failing health for several years and for nearly a year had been confined to her bed. She is survived by one daughter, Bess, who had cared for her during her years of illness and the last few months required the assistance of a nurse. Other survivors are five sons: Edwin of Kinsley, Kan., Lewis, at home; Noble, of Smyrna; Ben, of Ft. Bragg, Calif., and Merrill, of Kalamazoo; 10 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. The body is at the Fitzjohn Funeral Home and arrangements for the funeral services will be announced later.
