Peterson, 71, died in his farm home in Orleans township Sunday morning, April 20, at 9:20 o’clock after an illness of nine years. Born January 25, 1876 in Denmark, the son of Peter and Oline Mikkelsen, he came to Dwight, Illinois at the age of 14. He married Caroline Broderson March 6, 1902, and they came to their home in Orleans in 1910. A member of the Zion Evangelical United Brethren church he served on the board of trustees and was treasurer for 20 years. He was also treasurer of the Hall school district for many years. He was a charter member of the Ionia County Farm Bureau. Charles is survived by his widow, Caroline, six daughters, Miss Olene Peterson, superintendent of the Ionia County Memorial hospital, Mrs. Dan Bowerman of Detroit, Mrs. Raymond Burrows and Mrs. Frank Phelps of Ionia, Miss Ethel Peterson of Holland and Mrs. Leland Gabe of Grand Rapids; four sons, Andrew and John of Ionia, Ray and Ed of Orleans; two brothers, the Rev. John Peterson of British Columbia, and Martin Peterson of North Dakota; two sisters, Mrs. John Peterson and Mrs. Minnie Nelson of Ionia. Funeral services will be held from the Zion Evangelical church Tuesday, April 22, at 2:30 p.m. following prayer services at the home for the family at 1:45 p.m. the Rev. A. R. Kuehn will officiate at the services and interment will be in Higbee cemetery. Friends may view the body at the home as the casket will not be opened at the church. Subsequent Publication: Wednesday, April 23, 1947 Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock from the Zion Evangelical church following prayer services at 1:45 for Charles Peterson. The Rev. A. R. Kuehn assisted by the Rev. A. L. Bingaman of Everett conducted the services interment was in Highland Park cemetery. Mr. Peterson died Sunday at his home in Orleans township. Mrs. Walter Yeomans and Mrs. George Seidelman were in charge of the flowers. Bearers were Home Mann, Herman Lemke, Charles Dahl, Boyd Ludlow, Orin Schmidt and John Seidelman. Attending from out of town were Miss Esther Peterson of Holland, Mr. and Mrs. Leland Gabe of Grand Rapids, William and Andrew Peterson of Dwight, Illinois, and Mr. and Mrs. Dan Bowerman of Detroit.
