Donald was born April 13, 1923, in Port Huron, the son of Charles and Alma Kipfer Pethers. Donald was proud of his long career as a cement finisher with Local No. 16 Michigan Trowel Trades. In his working years he worked on the Mackinaw Bridge from start to finish and later worked for Disney in Florida at the Epcot Center. He loved his family and enjoyed gardening and growing flowers. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. He was married Sept. 15, 1944, in Romeo, to Regina Gembarski. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Thomas Pethers; grandchildren; and daughter-in-law. He is survived by his wife, Regina; their children, Donald C. Pethers of Greenville, William and Lynda Pethers of Ada, Judy Ann Deitz and Andy Bowser of Sparta, Jeanne Litson and Mike Carney of Orlando, Fla., Sandra Gayle and Patrick Demmink of Morgantown, Ky., Peggy Lou and Richard Peyton of Ada, Dan and Gail Pethers of Gowen, Debra Lynn, Michael Flanagan of Kent City, Jim Pethers of Ada, Robert and Janet Pethers of Gowen, Jacquelyn Dominy and Rick Quillan of Ada; daughter-in-law, Debra Kay Pethers of Belding; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and brothers and sisters. Funeral services are 11 a.m. Wednesday at Beth Haven Baptist Church on M-57 with Pastor Kevin Crowell officiating. Interment will follow in Little Denmark Cemetery, Gowen; a luncheon will follow the committal service at the Belding American Legion. Visitation is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today at Johnson-Feuerstein Funeral Home, Belding. Memorial contributions may be given to the wishes of the family.
