Mrs. Pettit was born at Remus, April 8, 1889, the daughter of Fred D. and Mary Lyon. She was married to Emerson A. Pettit April 15, 1911 at Palo. They lived in Elsie for five years and Palo for seven years. They came to Ionia in 1920 and lived here since. She was a member of Christian Science church, a meme r of the C.C.W. class of the First Baptist church and was past noble grand of Beatrice Rebekah lodge No. 100. Besides her husband she is survived by a brother, Ernest Lyon of Fenwick and a nephew, William Lyon of Remus. The body will repose at the Boynton funeral home until Friday noon. Funeral services will be at the First Baptist church Friday afternoon at 2 o’clock. The Rev. W. W. Pixley will officiate and interment will be at Palo cemetery. Subsequent Publication: Saturday, July 23, 1955 Funeral services were held at the First Baptist church Friday afternoon, July 22, at 2 o’clock for Mrs. Onie Pettit who died Tuesday evening. The Rev. W. W. Pixley officiated. The organist was Miss Mary Pixley. Interment was at the Palo cemetery. Organizations attending were the C.C.W. class of the First Baptist church, Beatrice Rebekah lodge, and the members of the First Scientist church. Pallbearers were Nels Strand, Claude Dumont, Leon McQuillan, H.H. Darling, Arthur Swanson and Ward Haskins. Those attending from out of town were Miss Nancy Merriam of Detroit, Mr. and Mrs. William Lyon and family of Remus, Mr. and Mrs. Eldon Kendall and Mr. and Mrs. Don Faulkner of Palo, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Lyon of Fenwick, Mrs. Dorothy Swenson and Mike Swenson of Muskegon Heights, Mr. and Mrs. Dave Anderson of Greenville, Mr. and Mrs. Edward Hawes and Mr. and Mrs. Jack Hawes of Elsie, Mrs. Ethel Hazelton of Grand Rapids, Mrs. Mary Jane Rush of Muskegon and Mrs. George Hale of Antigo, Wisconsin.
