Oct. 21, 2009 Vera D. Peiffer, age 85, of Hubbardston, passed away Monday, Oct. 19, 2009 at Heartland Health Care Center in Ionia. Vera was born Oct. 8, 1924 in Matherton, the daughter of Fred and Mary (Silvernail) Fenn. She married Wendell James Peiffer Sr. on Dec. 12, 1942. Vera was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church and life member of the Hubbardston American Legion Post 182 Women’s Auxiliary. She is survived by 14 children, Sharron (John) Heckman of Pewamo, Suzanne (Jim) Barker of Hubbardston, Wendell J. “Skip” (Roxanne) Peiffer of Hubbardston, Mary Devers of Edmore, Thomas (Doris) Peiffer of Hubbardston, Joseph (Penny) Peiffer of Hubbardston, Rodney (Vicki) Peiffer of Ionia, Fred Peiffer of Hubbardston, Cynthia (Pete) VanBeelen of Carson City, Lawrence “Dean” Peiffer of Wayland, Dan Peiffer of Hubbardston, Anthony Peiffer of Shelby, Kelly (Cyril) Donahue of Carson City and Terry (Sue) Peiffer of Pewamo; many grandchildren and great- grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Very was preceded in death by her husband Wendell; two sons, John David “Jack” Peiffer and his wife Lynette and Randall “Pete” Peiffer; and 11 siblings, Ada Chambers, Iva Osborn, Nova Keiffer, Margie Nevereth, Janet Kellog, Mamie Sabin, Lula Phillips, Vivian Gregory, Dick, Fred and Kenneth Fenn. Funeral services for Vera will be held Friday, Oct. 23 at 11 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Hubbardston with Fr. Charlon mason officiating. Interment will be in St. John the Baptist Cemetery. Visitation will be held Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Lux and Schnepp Funeral Home, Carson City, with rosary service to be held Thursday evening at 7:30 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Legion Post 182 Womens Auxiliary.
