Ionia Daily Sentinel Standard, 22 Jun 1957

John E. Pfeifer, 91, died early Saturday morning at Eckert’s.  He was born
September 18, 1865 in Lyons and lived in South Ionia and in the city of Ionia
for 50 years.  He was a former member of the Odd Fellow lodge and SS. Peter and
Paul church.

His wife preceded him in death in 1932.  Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. David
Doherty of Ionia and one step-son, Rolland Leland of Lakeworth, Fla.

The body is at the Myers funeral home, where rosary will be said Monday evening
at 7:30.  A prayer service will be held Tuesday morning at 8:30, followed by a
Requiem High Mass at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic church at 9 o’clock.  Interment
will be in Oakhill cemetery.
