                            FRANK W. PHELPS

IONIA- Frank W.Phelps, 71, of Ionia died Sunday at Ionia County Memorial 
Hospital.

The son of Lee and Irene Stout Phelps, he was born Aug. 19, 1916, in Ionia, and 
attended Ionia Public Schools.

He owned and operated several service stations in Ionia and his last employment 
was as a salesman at Johnson's Shoe Store. 

He was married to Hazel Peterson Feb. 15, 1938; She survives.

Also surviving are two sons,Kenneth Phelps of Indianapolis, Ind., and Fredric  
Phelps of Plainfield, Ind.; three grandchildren; three brothers, Laurence Phelps 
of Hastings, Walter Phelps of Ionia and Vern Phelps of Grand Rapids, a sister, 
Mrs.Elvin (Maxine) Heffelbower of Saranac, and several nieces and  nephews.

He was preceded in death by a son, Gregory Paul, in 1973.

Cremation has taken place.

Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Zion United Methodist 
Church with the Rev. William Dornbush officiating,

Burial will be in Balcom Cemetery.

The family will be at Montgomery-Cook Funeral Home, Rich Street, 4:30 p.m. to 
8:30 Tuesday.

Memorials have been established for Zion United Methodist Church Memorial Fund 
and the Michigan Heart Association, in care of the funeral Home.
