                              OTIS A.PHELPS

IONIA-Otis A.Phelps, 84, of Ionia died July 17 at Ionia County memorial 
Hospital.

The son of Walter and Beulah Shown Phelps.He was born April 21, 1903, in Temple, 
Mich. He was married to Alice Deal on Aug. 27, 1955, in Indiana.

At the age of 17 he joined the US Navy during World War 1 an he also served 
during World War II. He was employed by Gibson Corp. in Belding and also for the 
Department of Defense at Lear Siegler in Grand Rapids.

A life member of the Ionia Elks and of the Disabled American Veterans, Chapter 
106 the American Legion in Belding and VFW Post 5065 in Sheridan.

Surviving are his wife; two daughters, Audrey Walthuis of Six Lakes and Joan 
Trusock of Battle Creek; a son, George; five grandchildren and nine great-
grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Monday at 3:30 p.m. from the Rich street Chapel, 
Montgomery Funeral Home, with the Rev. Timothy Gillette officiating.

Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens.

A Memorial has been established for Ionia Area Hospice, in care of the funeral 
home.
