J. Phelps, died at her home at 624 High street, Ionia, on Monday morning, following an illness extending over a number of months. She had resided in Ionia all of her married life, living here for 44 years. The funeral was held on Monday afternoon, with Rev. Charles J. Kruse, pastor of the Methodist church, in charge. Burial took place at Oak Hill cemetery the pall bearers were: William Marquette, Earl Wright, Emory More and Will Brooks. She was born in Girard, Branch county, 63 years ago, November 23, 1924. Her name was Miss Ida Hubbard before her marriage. She was a lover of her home and a booster for every worth while project. Besides her husband, she is survived by one son, R. Roy Phelps of Toledo, Ohio; one sister, Mrs. Bert French of Bronson; one brother, James Hubbard of Union City, and two grandsons. She was a member of the Ionia Court of Honor and the Methodist church.
