The Ionia Sentinel-Standard, Saturday, December 11, 1965

James A. Phenix, 62, of route one, 6508 Ostrum road, Belding, died late Friday 
afternoon in Belding Community hospital after an illness of two months.  He 
was born at Rodney July 23, 1903 and on September 24, 1924 was married at 
Barryton to the former Bertha Harper.

Mr. Phenix had been a resident of the Belding area 41 years and the last 13 
years had been employed at Gibson Refrigerator company.

He is survived by the widow, Bertha; five sons, Edward and Wayne Phenix of 
Belding, Leo of Sidney, John of Oden and Charles of Greenville; two brothers, 
John Phenix of Hudsonville and Granville Phenix of Belding; 21 grandchildren.

Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Fitzjohn-Courser funeral home in 
Belding with the Rev. Kenneth Harger of Shiloh Community church officiating.  
Interment will be at River Ridge cemetery at Belding.
