Phenix, 81, died at his home at 607 N. Root street, Belding, late Saturday afternoon. Mr. Phenix, son of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Phenix, was born in Ohio, December 19, 1858, and came to Barryton, Michigan with his parents when six years old. Later he worked at lumbering and farming, and was married August 18, 1895 at Crystal lake. They came to Belding about 14 years ago, residing here ever since. Funeral services were held at the Fales Funeral home Monday afternoon at 1:00 o’clock. Rev. Weldon F. Lane, pastor of the Church of God officiated and burial was in Eaton cemetery, four miles west of Barryton. Survivors are: the wife, Minnie; one sister in California; three sons, John Phenix of Grand Rapids, James and Grandville Phenix, both of Belding; one stepson, Elton Burdick of Belding; a number of nieces, nephews, and nine grandchildren.
