K. Phillips, Yeomans street Wednesday afternoon following an illness of six days of scarlet fever. She was born in Putnam, O., March 13, 1907. Miss Phillips graduated last year from the Ionia high school, and was a member of the 1926 Ionia county normal, and had been engaged to teach the Ross school, north of Muir, next year. She was a member of the Presbyterian church in Ionia, a teacher in the Sunday school, always dependable in her church and school work, and exemplified the sweetest Christian character. She was a favorite not only in the circles in which she worked, but was universally loved by those older and younger than she. Besides her parents she leaves two brothers, Vern Phillips, of Grand Rapids, and Otto Phillips, of Detroit, and a sister, Mrs. Martin Cox. The funeral services were held privately at the residence Thursday afternoon at 3 o’clock. Rev. H.G. Hurrell was in charge. The burial took place in Oak Hill cemetery.
