He underwent several operations, and it was a close shave in saving his arm, but lately he has improved and promised to come out all right. But this morning a dispatch came, announcing that he had been stricken with apoplexy, and that his condition was precarious. Mr. and Mrs. J.O. Post and Mr. and Mrs. W.J. Lee left this afternoon for Ann Arbor to be with him, the two ladies being daughters of Mr. Phillips. December 15, 1898 The remains of Hiram Phillips arrived from Ann Arbor last evening, and were taken at once to the home of his son-in-law, Jay Post, S.H. of C. suburb. The funeral will be attended from the Church of Christ at 2 p.m. tomorrow, and will be in charge of the Masonic fraternity. Mr. Phillips was aged 55 years. He was a long time resident of Easton, and was highly regarded by his friends. Additional Comments: Co. R 1st Mi. CAV.
