Martha Phillips Died Monday, March 13th

Mrs. Martha Phillips, lifelong resident of Clarksville, passed away at Pennock 
hospital, Hastings, Monday evening, March 13. She would have been ninety years 
of age on April the 16th. She had been ill with pleural pneumonia for a period 
of three weeks. 

Mattie Phillips was born on the Ruben White farm east of Clarksville on April 
16, 1871. She was the daughter of Amasa and Pruella White.

She is survived by six children; Mrs. Mildred Wing of Freeport, Roland Hess of 
Clarksville, Mrs. Thelma Garland of Lake Odessa, Mrs. Esther Birman of Oregon, 
Mrs. Frances Anderson of Muskegon Hgts., and Mrs. Ernestine Calcott of Lake 
Odessa, also 36 grandchildren, 114 great-grandchildren and 24great-great 
grandchildren as well as a host of relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at the Bible Church in Clarksville. Rev. Larry Gegner 
officiating. Interment was at Clarksville cemetery.
