The Portland Observer, Wednesday, July 26, 1899
Died – in Danby on the 23d, inst., Jane, widow of the late Wm. G. Phillips, 
aged 55 years.  Paralysis was the cause of her death, she having received a 
stroke while preparing dinner a week ago Sunday.  Funeral services were 
conducted from her late home on Monday afternoon of this week and burial made 
in Danby cemetery.  Deceased was a native of Eaton county and resided in that 
county until her marriage to Mr. Phillips in 1861, when she came to Danby.  
Mrs. Philips was a sister of Mrs. Thomas Pryer of this village.
