Mrs. Pickard was 80 years or age but had been in usual health and was making her summer home here after spending the winter with her daughter, Mrs. Maude Williams of Ionia. For the past 25 years the deceased had been a resident of this city. For quite some time she did practical nursing under Dr. E. W. Litle and made many friends through her many acts of mercy. Mrs. Pickard was Hattie Medes as a girl, having been born near Coral, the daughter of Benjamin Medes. She was a former member of the local Women’s Relief corps and the Central Methodist church. Funeral services were held Wednesday morning at 10:30 at the late home, 322 Alderman, in charge of Stone & Kauffman of Ionia, to which place the body was taken for interment in Oak Hill cemetery beside the husband who passed away 11 years ago. Rev. H. S. Ellis of this city officiated. Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Maude Williams of Ionia, Mrs. Ida Miner of Detroit and Mrs. Beatrice Brady of Lansing also five grandchildren and three great grandchildren. The grandchildren are Gerald Pickard and Clinton Couzzins of Detroit, Mrs. Mildred Clements of this city, Mrs. Lela Wright of Elkhart, Indiana, and Donald Williams of Ionia.
