When a young man he came to Kalamazoo, Michigan, to study for a teacher, and in the year of 1876 he came to Coral, where he met Mrs. Hattie Meade Fralick and was united in marriage on February 22, 1877. A few years later he moved to Merhil, Saginaw county, where he resided until 1904 when he came to Belding. Death occurred here at his home Thursday. There were eight children born to bless their union, five boys and three girls, all have passed away excepting the three daughters. He leaves to mourn his departure his wife, Mrs. Hattie Pickard; three daughters, Mrs. Harry Williams of Ionia, Mrs. William Minor of Jackson, Beatrice Couzzins of Lansing; two sisters and one brother, Mrs. Diana Webb of Miami, Florida, Mrs. B.M. Treat, of Tonawanda, New York, Lyman Pickard of Mt. Clemons; five grandchildren, Gerald Pickard of this city, Donald Williams of Ionia, Lela Pickard of Elkhart, Indiana, and Clinton and Mildred Couzzins of the city. Funeral services were held at the home on Alderman street Saturday, March 7 at 2:30 p.m., conducted by H.S. Ellis.
