All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/mi/mifiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Sandy Heintzelman sheintz@iserv.net August 21, 2011, 8:19 pm Unidentified Publication, 1918 Orvin Martin Pickens, son of Charley and Addie Pickens, was born in Odessa township, Nov. 14, 1891, and died of pneumonia following influenza Oct. 30, 1918, aged 26 years, 11 months and 16 days, at his home in Orange township where he had resided for the past two years. When a child and young man he attended the Lake Odessa M.E. Church and Sunday school, and was taken into the church on probation {unreadable date} 1901. The early part of his education he received in the North Jordan school, and the remainder in the Lake Odessa high school. He was united in marriage to Miss Luna Sweitzer, March 17, 1912. To this union were born two children, Clare Chas. age four and one half years and Arlo Wm. aged three months. Besides his wife and children, he leaves to mourn his death a father and mother and many friends. His own father and a sister having preceded him to the batter world. Private services were held at the home October 31st, and a short service was conducted by Rev. D.D. King at the Lakeside cemetery where he was laid at rest. The wife and oldest child were sick with the influenza at the time of his death.
