Michael “Mikee” Pierce of Portland, MI. Born June 14, 1947 in Muskegon, Mi, Mike passed away on Thursday, May 14, 2015. Mike is survived by the love of his life and best friend of 46 years, Sheryl L. (Rosselott) Pierce, beloved daughters Kimberly B. Pierce, Krysten and loving son-in-law Joseph B. Rosendall, and cherished grandson Theodore Michael Rosendall; step-grandsons Jacob and Lucas Rosendall; brother, Steve M. (Judy) Pierce, sister, Allyson Patricio, brother-in-law John C. (Judy) Rosselott, special cousin Robert E. (Nancy) Hagen, nephews, nieces, and many other cousins. Special recognition is given to Mikee’s Portland Family (“the group”) of loving and cherished friends that he held so dear and shared so much. Mike was preceded in death by his parents Herman C. and Ethel P. (Hagen) Pierce. Mike served in law enforcement for 34 years spending ten years on the Muskegon Police Department and 24 on the Portland Police Department with the last four of his career as Portland Chief of Police. He was an avid collector and hobbyist of Lionel Toy Trains, an avid enthusiast of World War II and Civil War history, and dappled in many other hobbies and past times. Mikee loved Michigan State University and proudly supported Spartan Football with passion and gusto. Mikee was a wonderful and talented cook and enjoyed sharing a good family meal more than anything. Mikee loved his family and friends but the light of his life over the last three and a half years was his grandson Theodore. Theodore and “Paw Paw” were the best of buddies, learning how to operate toy trains, watching train videos and taking afternoon naps. A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, May 20, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at the First Congregational Church of Portland, Michigan, with Rev. Dr. Marilyn V. Danielson presiding. A light luncheon to celebrate Mike’s life will be held in the fellowship hall after. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Autism Alliance of Michigan in honor of Mikee’s love for his grandson Theodore. Arrangements are entrusted to Lehman Funeral Homes, Portland.
