Pierce, 83, died at his home on Route 3 Lake Odessa Saturday after an illness of several years. He was a former Woodbury poultry dealer for 44 years before he retired. Mr. Pierce began his Woodbury business in 1893 and conducted it until 1937. A native of Ionia county, he was the son of James and Nellie Pierce and spent his entire life in the county. He is survived by his wife, Katherine; two grandchildren, Mrs. Iris Reid of Ulm, Germany, and ViVerne Pierce of Lake Odessa; and four great-grandchildren. Mr. Pierce’s son, Car of Lake Odessa, preceded him in death by four months. Funeral services will be held from Pickens funeral home Wednesday at 2 p.m. with Rev. Glenn Rairigh from Sunfield officiating. Burial will be in Lakeside cemetery.
