Marilla E., beloved wife of L. D. Pierce, loosed her hold upon the tender thread of life and passed to the perfect rest beyond life’s harbor bar, having reached the age of 27 years, 11 months and nine days. Marilla Morris was born in Pioneer, O., and was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Mark Morris of this city. September, 1904, in Chicago, she was joined in the holy bonds of matrimony to L. D. Pierce, one of Belding’s prominent young business men and as a result of the union a little daughter 17 months old still graces the once happy home so cruelly bereft of a loving wife and mother. Besides the broken hearted husband and the motherless bade, Mrs. Pierce leaves a father and mother, one brother and one sister and a large circle of friends who will mourn her early departure from the scenes of life. The funeral was held at the M. E. church Tuesday, at 2 o’clock, a large concourse of people gathering there to show their affection to one who in life was so dear to all who knew her, her pastor, Rev. J. W. Sheehan speaking words of comfort to the afflicted ones, and the remains were laid to rest in River Ridge Cemetery. The sympathy of the entire community goes out to the heart broken husband in this dark hour of bereavement. She has passed to her home in the haven of rest To dwell with the saints gone before, For the guardian angel has welcomed her home, To that bright and beautiful shore. Her beautiful face, and her character sweet, Will be missed by everyone. And we bow to the will of the great “I am” And say “Thy will be done.” But beyond that shore in the far way, We may meet her again by and by, Where no parting shall come and nothing of pain In the bright happy home upon high.
