Sept. 28, 1967 Donald G. Pierce, 64, of 463 Rice died Wednesday noon at Ionia County Memorial hospital. Born September 23, 1903 in Delton, he was the son of William D. and Leona Baker Pierce. He was graduated from Delton high school and attended Western Michigan University at Kalamazoo. May 14, 1924 he was married to Julia Hogan in Kalamazoo and they came to Ionia to make their home in 1926. Mr. Pierce was employed at Ionia State hospital the past 40 years as occupational therapist. A member of SS Peter and Paul Catholic church he also belonged to Knights of Columbus and was a member of Elks lodge since 1933, making him an Old Timer. Surviving are his wife, Julia, a son, Danny and four grandchildren. Rosary will be recited at 7:30 pm Friday evening at Myers funeral home and Mass will be Saturday at 10 am at SS Peter and Paul church. Interment will be Mt. Olivet cemetery. Bearers will be Ronald North, Robert Meyers, John Rogusky, Stanley Warren, Earl Graham and James Poole. A memorial has been established in Mr. Pierce’s memory for Ionia County unit of American Cancer Fund and contributions may be left at the funeral home. Additional Comments: Mt.
