Eleanora (Day) Pierce, 72, of Lake Odessa died Sunday, March 8, 1998 at
Butterworth Hospital, Grand Rapids.  She was born Nov. 22, 1925 in Grand Rapids
the adopted daughter of Rev. Elmer and Josephine Day.  She married Carl Pierce
on Dec. 14, 1946.  She was a member of the Lakewood United Methodist Church and
VFW Ladies Auxiliary.

She is survived by her husband Carl; son, Donald (Linda) Pierce of Vermontville;
granddaughter, Jessica Pierce; three sisters, Ilene (Donald) Tuinstra of Byron
Center, Hannah (Russell) Merritt of La Mesa, Calif., Grace Vargo of La Mesa,
Calif.; and many nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her sister,
Elizabeth Balcom.

Funeral services will be held 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 11, 1998 at the
Lakewood United Methodist Church with Rev. Ward Pierce officiating with
interment in Lakeside Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, and
2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Koops Funeral Chapel, Lake Odessa. 
Memorials may be made to the Lakewood Community Ambulance, Lakewood United
Methodist Church Memorial fund, or American Cancer Society, Ionia.
