Pierce, 88, of Lake Odessa, passé away Wednesday, Feb. 15, 2012. Carl was born Dec. 20, 1923 in Howard City, the son of Howard and Helene (White) Pierce. Carl served in the United States Marine Corps during World War II and was married to Eleanora Day on Dec. 14, 1946. Mrs. Pierce preceded him in death on March 8, 1998. Carl was the owner and operator of Carl's Drive-In in Woodbury from 1961 to 1971, was a janitorial and swimming pool supply sales representative, worked at Village True Value in Lake Odessa and also Koops Funeral Chapel. Work was Carl's hobby, he loved his community and visiting with his friends at the "coffee shops". Carl was a member of Lakewood United Methodist Church and the Jackson-Mutschler VFW Post 4461 in Lake Odessa. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Eleanora; and several siblings. Surviving is his son, Donald (Linda) Pierce of Vermontville' granddaughter, Jessica (Jonathan) Lentz of Charlotte; great granddaughters, Erica and Emma Lentz; and sister, Jeanette Wagenmaker of Spring Lake. Visitation with the family will be held 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday at Koops Funeral Chapel - Lake Odessa. Funeral services for Carl will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Lakewood United Methodist Church, 10265 E. Brown Road, Lake Odessa. Interment Lakeside Cemetery. Memorial contributions in Carl's name may be directed to Lakewood United Methodist Church or the charity of one's choice.
