Donald (Dan) L. Pierce, age 81, lifelong resident of Ionia, passed away June 3, 
2014.  He was born July 28, 1932 in Ionia the son of Donald and Julia (Hogan) 
Pierce. 

Dan married Heather Renwick on September 2, 1952 in Ionia.  In the past he was 
a Boy Scout Leader of Troop 81, coached Little League Baseball, and was an 
Instructor for Black Hawk Archers.  He was a member of the Ionia County Fishing 
& Hunting Club, Ionia Moose Lodge, past president & member of the Western MI 
Rifle & Pistol Club, life member of Knights of Columbus, and member of the SS 
Peter & Paul Catholic Church.  He enjoyed fishing, golfing, & other outdoor 
activities. 

Dan is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Heather Pierce of Ionia; 
children, David (Blyth) Pierce of Muskegon, Craig Pierce (Janelle Berry) of 
Grand Ledge, Kathleen “Kip” (Ted) Geldhof of Lake Odessa and Colleen Pierce 
(Bruce Roetman) of Ionia; grandchildren, Erin, Evan, Lindsay, Alison, Jaimi, 
Alex, & Robert; great-grandchildren, Maleah, Madison, James, & Eve; brother-in-
law, Neil (Jan) Renwick of Saranac; sisters-in-law, Gayle (Richard) Peacock of 
Lake Odessa and Julie Miller of Saranac.   He was preceded in death by his 
parents and brother-in-law, Garry Miller. 

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday, June 6 at SS Peter & Paul 
Catholic Church with Father Thomas Boufford officiating.  Visitation on 
Thursday, June 5, 4-7 p.m. at Lake Funeral Home in Ionia with a Scripture 
Service at 7 p.m. and one hour prior to service at the church.  Interment at 
Mt. Olivet.  In Lieu of Flowers, donations may be made in Dan’s name to the 
Safe Haven Humane Society of Ionia and Ionia Area Hospice.
