PIERCE IONIA - Allen G. Pierce, 69, of 326 E.Main St., died Friday evening at his cottage at Long Lake. He was born May 3, 1910 in Ionia, the son of Mr and Mrs.Glenn Pierce. He was a gradate of Ionia High School and was a sports star at the school. He was married July 9, 1938 in Muir to Lucille Elvert. He was in the construction business with his father and brother for many years and helped rebuild the First United Methodist Church after it burned. He was superintendent of Bertha Brock Park for 18 years. He was a member of the Elks for 45 years. He was also a member of the Kiwanis Club, the TPA, Sheriff Posse. Fishing and Hunting club and the First United Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife, Lucille, two daughters, Mrs.Mary Lou Andres of Ionia and Mrs.Carol Sue Burr of Ithaca, N.Y, two brothers, Max and Robert, both of Ionia, two sisters, Mrs.Reva Stebbins of Ionia and Mrs.Thelma Clark of Hartford, four grandchildren, Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m at the First United Methodist Church. Rev. Carl Hausermann officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens. A memorial has been established for the heart Fund or the organ fund at the church and may be left at the funeral home.
