Sept. 24, 1990 IONIA- A. Lucille Pierce, 80, of Ionia died Saturday at United Memorial Hospital, Greenville. She was born in Lyons Township July 11, 1910, the daughter of Edward and Lulu Townsend Elvert. She attended Case rural school in Ronald Township and was graduated from Muir High School. She attended Ionia County Normal an later received a bachelor's degree from Central Michigan University. She taught 14 years in rural schools in Ionia County and 20 years at Jefferson School in Ionia. She was married to Allen Pierce on July 9, 1938. He preceded her in death in 1979. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, the Ionia Woman's Literary Club, Antlerettes, Delta Kappa Gamma, the Lucy Cull Guile of Ionia County Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, and the Michigan Association of Retired School Personnel. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Rod (Mary Lou) Andres of Belding and Mrs. Bill (Carol Sue) Burr of Mount Juliet, Tenn., two grandsons and two granddaughters. Funeral services will be held at First United Methodist Church Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. with the Rev. Keith Bovee officiating. The organist will be Marilyn Brill. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Hal Kreeger, Russell Townsend, Clinton Townsend, Leo Mann, Tom Dee, Jerry Ciganik and Adam Andres. The family will be at Myers Memorial Chapel Tuesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 8:30 p.m. A memorial service will be conducted by Delta Kappa Gamma at 8:00 p.m. Tuesday. Memorials have been established for First United Methodist Church and the American Cancer Society in care of the funeral home.
