                             LEON R. PIERCE

IONIA - Len R. Pierce, 85, of Ionia died Oct. 24, at the Shiawassee County 
Medical Care Facility in Corunna.

The son of Frank R.Pierce and Margaret Sherwood Pierce Helmer, he was born in 
Ionia on Nov. 20, 1903. He attended Ionia Schools and served in the 5th Calvary 
of the U.S. Army at the end of World War I. 

He worked for more than 45 years at the Ypsilanti-Reid Company.  He is a member 
of St.Johns Lutheran Church.

He is survived by one daughter Mrs.Hugh (Margaret) Brooks of Howard city; two 
grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren; and one 
nephew, Darrell Pierce of Muir.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Don, and three sisters, Hazel 
Wieczorek, Margie and Dorothy Pierce, and one grandson.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m Friday, Oct.27, at the St.Johns Lutheran 
Church n Ionia with Rev. Theodore Voll officiating. Burial will be in Sunset 
Memorial Gardens.

Visiting hours are Thursday from 3 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Rich 
Street Chapel of Cook Funeral Home in Ionia.

Memorial contributions may be made at the St.Johns Lutheran Church Memorial 
Fund.
