For 28 years Mrs. Pierce had been a loyal, faithful member of the Church of Christ. She was born in England December 1, 1855, and came to the United States with her parents when only six weeks old. Her folks settled in New York at the time, but ten years later moved to Michigan and became pioneer residents of Ronald township. It was on October 7, 1874 that she married Ezra Pierce and they resided in Ronald township until 1908, when they moved to Ionia. Mr. Pierce preceded her in death about a year. Mrs. Pierce is survived by two sons, Arthur of Alton, Ill., and Glenn of Ionia; one daughter, Mrs. Alice Bushnel, and ten grandchildren; two brothers, William Haysmer, who lives on the old homestead; Henry Haysmer of Cadillac, and a sister, Mrs. Cora King of Baldwinsville. Ionia lost one of its loyal, faithful citizens and the community mourns the departure of Mrs. Pierce.
