Mrs. Corintha A. Pierce, 79, widow of Henry Pierce, Sebewa pioneer, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Bur Hines, Tremayne's Corners, last Friday night. The funeral was held Sunday afternoon from the daughter's home, with Rev. B. A. Hammond of Hickory Corners in charge. Interment was made in Portland cemetery. She was born in Jackson county, where she wed Henry Pierce, and they came by ox- team to Orange township, where the made their home a number of years. Fifteen years ago they moved to Tremayne's corners and lived there until the death of Mr. Pierce, four years ago. One of the school houses was named for Mr. Pierce in Sebewa township, where he labored vigorously at a time when clearing land for farms was necessary. Mrs. Pierce is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Hinds, at whose home she died; two sons, Donald, of Des Moines, Iowa, and Rolland, of Whittier, California; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
