All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/mi/mifiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Marilyn Ransom mlnransom@chartermi.net July 1, 2011, 7:00 pm The Ionia Sentinel-Standard, Monday, June 29, 1936 Rean Pierson, 86, pioneer of Ionia county, died Sunday, June 28, at 5 o’clock at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Esther Leach, Woodard lake, with whom he has lived for the past twenty-four years. He suffered a heart attack in the afternoon. He was born in Ohio January 27, 1850, son of Mr. and Mrs. Elisha Pierson and had spent the last 81 years in Ionia county. He was a wood worker by trade. In January 1882 he married miss Frances Basom. Mr. Pierson organized the Live Arbor Gleanors and served as chief gleaner for a number of years. He was an active member in the Woodard lake grange and organized the Masonic lodge in Orleans until it later dissolved. He is a member of the F. and A.M. lodge No. 36 in Ionia and of the Eastern Star. He was the last surviving member of his family. Surviving are his widow; one daughter, Mrs. Esther Leach, of Woodard lake; two sons, Roland Pierson, Ionia; Robert Pierson, of Orleans; one step-son, Forey Basom, of Stanton; four grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. Funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon July 1 at 2:30 o’clock at the Orleans Methodist church, following a short prayer service at 1:30 o’clock from the home of his daughter. Rev. W. S. Ellis, of Alma, will officiate, and interment will be at Orleans cemetery. The services at the grave will be under the Masonic auspices.
