The Ionia Sentinel-Standard, Wednesday, March 18, 1987
Jeanne L. Luther Pierson, 69, of 960 Dildine Road, Ionia, died at Butterworth 
Hospital, Grand Rapids, during heart surgery March 16.  The daughter of Earl 
O. and Katherine Weltman Luther, she was born in Chicago March 21, 1917.

She visited the Ionia area during summers as guest of the Lawrence family and 
was married to Robert Leon Pierson on December 29, 1935, at Clark Memorial 
Home in Grand Rapids by the Rev. Alex T. Luther.  She spent her entire married 
life at Pierson’s Orchard Farm.

She was a member of the Fist United Methodist Church, Women for the Survival 
of Agriculture in Michigan, Ionia County Historical Society, Ionia Area 
Hospice, and Ionia Women’s Literary Club.

Surviving are her husband, Robert Leon; two daughters, Kathryn Grzelkowski of 
Orono, Maine, and Mrs. Gary (Gina) Gardner of Lansing; on son, Ron Pierson of 
Poughkeepsie, N.Y., seven grandchildren; one brother, John Luther of Chicago; 
one sister, Bettie Bloy of Marietta, Ga.; and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial celebration and luncheon will be held at First United Methodist 
Church Saturday, March 28, at 1 p.m., with the Rev. Keith Bovee and the Rev. 
Heath Goodwin officiating.  Memorials have been established for the First 
United Methodist Church, Eagle Village, and Michigan Heart Association, in 
care of Montgomery Funeral Home.  There will be no visitation.  The family 
requests no flowers.
