He was an old soldier of the 21st Infantry and belonged to the Ionia Post. He had been as well as usual but Saturday while talking pleasantly with the family he passed away suddenly in his chair. The remains were taken by undertakers Miller & Harris in Ionia for burial, Rev. Coggshall preaching the service in the M.E. church. Murray Lester Pike was born Feb. 22, 1836, Blenham township, county of Brant, Ontario, and died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. J.W. McIntosh, Belding, Sept. 5, 1908, aged 92 years, 6 mo. and 14 days. At the age of 20 he came to Michigan and settled in Keene. He was married Oct. 25, 1859, to Mary J. Shively of Ionia. Three children were born to them, one son and two daughters. One daughter Mrs. McIntosh and three grandsons of Belding and one brother of Hobart Mich., survive him.
