Since then the cause of his death has been determined. On Tuesday evening he was at a party, given by the O.E.S., of Greenville, his home town, when his throat began to swell and he was taken to Grand Rapids hospital where he died as he was being taken to a room. An autopsy at which fourteen doctors were present, including one from the Mayo Institution at Rochester, Minn., was held and it was found that an artery of the neck had burst and the lungs filled with blood and death resulted from suffocation. None of the physicians had ever heard of another such a case. It is believed the broken artery was caused by a coughing attack. He was a member of the F. and A.M. and the I.O.O.F. wherever he lived and enjoyed their social functions. The funeral was held at Greenville and burial was at Lake Side cemetery, Lake Odessa, where many fraternal and other friends gathered to view the remains of a former friend and townsman and to show their sympathy for the sorrowing family. He leaves his wife, two daughters, Marjory, 18, and Pauline, 14, and a son Thomas, 12 years of age, also two brothers, Dr. Arthur of Morenci and Glen of Portland, two sisters, Mrs. George McMillian of Athens and Miss Dora of Portland. It is expected Mrs. Pilkinton will continue the job printing business as she has been a competent helper in the business since purchasing the plant at Greenville and even before when in the newspaper business.
